Built because the other sites got greedy

The big lead sites charge contractors for your phone number and then sell it to four more. You get blown up with calls; they get a bill. Nobody wins except the website.

SoKY Local is the boring alternative. A directory. You look someone up, read what your neighbors said, and call them. Businesses list for free and keep every lead. The site pays for itself with one small, labeled sponsor spot per page.

It's run by one person in Bowling Green who got tired of the alternatives. Listings are checked by hand, at least while that's still possible.

Review policy

• No account needed. Every review is checked before it posts, and we keep the reviewer's email on file (never shown) so we can follow up. One review per business per person.
• Reviews stay up whether they're good or bad. Businesses can reply publicly.
• We remove reviews only for spam, threats, slurs, personal information, or clear evidence the reviewer never dealt with the business.
• Businesses can't pay to remove or bury reviews, and can't pay to rank higher. Results go by location, then reviews. Neither rule bends for the site owner's own business.
• Think a review breaks these rules? Use the report link on it and say why. We'll look and reply either way.
• Businesses can link their Google profile to show their Google rating and recent Google reviews alongside ours. Those come straight from Google; we can't edit or remove them.

Listing policy

• Any legal business or person for hire in the counties we cover can list.
• To claim or edit a listing you have to own the business or have the owner's okay. We do add basic listings from public records (name, trade, phone) so people can find a business before it's claimed; those are marked "Unclaimed," and claiming one is free.
• Licensed trades can show a "Verified license" badge after we check the number with the state.
• We don't scrape listings or reviews from other sites.

SoKY Local is a directory. We don't vet, recommend, insure or guarantee anyone listed. Listings are written by the businesses; reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them. Check licenses and references yourself before hiring. The full terms spell it out.
